State water heater company denied warranty reimbursement

I installed a gas water heater 50 gallon natural draft for a customer in July last year. 8 month later the water heater split in half and leaked on a weekend. I replaced it with a Rheem Water Heater. State water heater company denied any warranty reimbursement because I didn't use the same water heater that leak in the first place. They even denied me the cost of a replacement tank so I can least recover my cost for taking care of the customer. State water heater company failed to be responsible. Do not buy State water heaters

State warranty is a joke. Product is a joke
by: Anonymous

This just happened to me too!!! I wish I had read your review first. Came home to flooded garage. After hours. Plumber came, said it needed to be replaced. Mind you it is less than 6 years old. Plumber used one from a different manufacturer. First State said it was "out of warranty". When proven to NOT be the case, now saying they would honor the warranty if the plumber had used the same manufacturer. Really? so we were supposed to go without hot water for days while they fiddle around, let my garage continue to flood while they hem and haw? I asked this... was told "we can't tell you what to do". WHAT? they have done everything they can to not honor the warranty. What a joke. DO NOT USE STATE PRODUCTS.
